Hi, I’m Dr Alex! GP & Founder of The Good Sleep Club infant sleep consultancy.

My little one woke up EVERY. SINGLE. HOUR.

The only way I knew how to get him back to sleep was to feed him - I was TIRED!

Everyone had their opinions and suggestions, but, NOTHING WORKED for my baby.

And when I say nothing worked, I’m SERIOUS. We tried the cot, the next2me crib, the moses basket, the pram, the nest, the car, the carrier. Rocking, bouncing, jogging, squatting, spinning… Need I go on???

I downloaded upwards of 10 sleep guides online and thought I was implementing the strategies, but in the midst of sleep deprivation, I just could not find the motivation to carry on with the advice, when I was seeing so little in the way of results.

I ended up having to sleep in another bedroom with the baby, separate from my husband. I was feeding him to sleep at bedtime and for all wakes in the night (every 45mins-1hr) and I was achieving maybe 3 hours of broken sleep myself, on a good night. I WAS UTTERLY MISERABLE.

“There must be another way” we thought, as we were reaching breaking point. We reached out to a sleep consultant for help and WOW it changed our lives. Within 2 weeks I began to see some of the old me coming back.

And the baby? Well he was THRIVING on his new found sleep. We just couldn’t believe it!

The Good Sleep Club is all about demystifying infant sleep, and empowering exhausted parents to take back control and get the sleep they deserve, without judgement.

As an NHS GP, I’ve seen the consequences of sleep deprivation, and now, as a parent myself, I can truly appreciate the agony; it’s the absolute pits! This journey has taught me that it is okay not to be okay - help is out there.

Sleep deprivation is common, and often hugely underestimated. I’m sure I’ve underestimated it’s impact myself in the past when speaking with new parents. It can feel like you’re constantly operating on fumes, feeling exhausted, irritable and emotionally drained. It can significantly impact your mood, making it harder to bond with your baby and cope with the daily challenges of parenthood. I’ve seen sleep deprivation have a huge impact on a mum’s mental health causing stress, anxiety, loss of concentration, and even contributing to post partum depression. Prioritising sleep can make the world of difference to all of this.

On reflection, I thought about the 15+ years of medical training I’ve undertaken and realised that there was not a single piece of knowledge on infant sleep… can you believe it!?

So, I made the decision to undertake this training myself and become an infant sleep consultant.  I’ve  been lucky enough to come out the other side of the infant sleep trenches.  I want to help you get here too.

If this sounds like just what you need, you’ve come to the right place.
